Things you will need:

Here is how you can faux paint your cabinet.

1. Remove the doors

Start by removing each and every door from the cabinet and then clean the doors and the cabinet with some soap mixed in warm water. Next, dry the doors and the cabinet thoroughly. Once the doors and cabinet are dry, you have to apply primer to them.

2. Apply coats of primer

It is important that you apply a couple of coats of primer and the same number of peachy orange colored satin paint to the doors and to the cabinet. A paint roller should be used to apply each coat and after applying a coat of primer, be sure to wait for it to dry up completely. To apply the primer, make sure that you reach all parts of the cabinet and doors. You can make use of a paintbrush to reach areas that are small and otherwise hard to reach.

3. Apply semi-gloss paint

It is best to apply a couple of coats of semi-gloss paint to both your cabinet as well as its doors. Take some burnt sienna paint and pour it into a paint tray. With a three inch paintbrush you can apply the paint to your cabinet. Make sure that you use strokes that are long and continuous. It is also important to ensure that the paintbrush is not lifted as this will spoil your wood grain.

4. Apply burnt sienna-paint

You can apply between one and two coats of burnt sienna paint. It all depends on the amount of wood grain that you want. After this step has been done, you can then think about applying the final color. This final color is burnt umber and it should be applied to the doors and to the cabinet. Make sure that you apply the final color with a second three inch paintbrush. Also, when applying this final coat be sure that you use the same kinds of continuous brush strokes as only then you can achieve the desired wood grain look to your cabinet. After the final coat has been applied, you need to wait till it dries up completely.

5. Apply varnish

The next step involves rolling on a pair of coats of semi-gloss varnish. This is done to help give your cabinet a glossy look and in addition the semi-gloss varnish also makes your cabinet water resistant.
