1. Remove doors and drawers

Once you have acquired all the material, the next thing is to learn how to go about painting your cabinets black. The first step is to remove the doors and the drawers from the cabinet. Next, remove the hardware including the knobs and handles from the drawers and from the doors. It also makes sense to remove the hinges.

2. Remove dirt and grime

Once this step has been completed, the next step is to remove all the dirt and grime from the cabinets. To clean away the dirt and grime, you should use a cleanser and some warm water. Be sure that you are able to remove each and every stain and grease so that the surface is ready for further treatment.

3. Dry the cabinet

Before applying the primer, wipe each surface of the cabinet with a dry cloth and remove all dust particles.

4. Apply the primer

Primers help in bonding with the cabinet surface and will ensure that your black paint will adhere to the cabinet and it also prevents peeling and chipping. The primer will take some time to dry. Therefore, allow it to remain their overnight so that the primer dries up completely.

5. Paint the interiors

You can now start painting the cabinet interiors. After the interiors have been painted, you can start on the outside of the cabinets. When applying the black paint be sure to apply short brush strokes and the strokes should be in a given direction only. Be sure to paint each area with black paint. Once the painting has been done, you have to allow the paint to dry up. Normally, it means allowing the paint to dry overnight. Make sure that each and every part of the cabinet has been painted black. If there are areas that were not properly covered, then you may have to apply a second coat of black paint.

Black paint will make your cabinets look much more dramatic as well as elegant. Black is also a very versatile color that works with every other color.
